When a meter socket jaw loses its spring tension, arcing can occur at just 5 lbs. of force—putting the site at risk of electrical fire or failure. The TESCO Socket Safety Clip improves the holding force to approximately 20 lbs., helping reduce the risk until the socket can be replaced.
The clip installs quickly with the meter removed and is recommended for each jaw regardless of how many show failure. Although designed for temporary use, it can also help improve holding strength on “good” sockets.
Description
TESCO’s Socket Safety Clip (Catalog No. 301) gives utilities a fast, effective, and temporary way to address hot sockets in the field without disconnecting service. Designed for single-use installation, this compact clip dramatically improves socket jaw holding force in seconds.
Replace affected sockets within 30–100 days. This is not a permanent fix, but a safety-enhancing stopgap.
