TESCO Metering has been a pioneer in the electric utility metering industry for over 120 years. Founded in 1904 by an engineer at Philadelphia Electric Company, TESCO was established to solve the growing challenges of meter testing in a rapidly electrifying world. Our first breakthrough—the meter test switch—set a new safety and performance standard and is still used by utilities today.
Throughout the 20th century, TESCO built its reputation as the go-to source for accurate meter test equipment and durable utility tools. From burden boards and load boxes to optical pickups and desktop test stations, our product innovations helped shape how meter shops and field crews perform testing, calibration, and diagnostics.
In 2003, TESCO joined Advent Design Corporation, expanding our engineering and automation capabilities. We further strengthened our position with the acquisition of Knopp in 2018, adding specialized instrument transformer testing equipment to our portfolio. Today, we operate from our ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 certified headquarters in Bristol, Pennsylvania, with additional locations in Canada and the Philippines.
TESCO’s legacy is built on innovation, trust, and responsiveness. As the utility landscape evolves—with smart meters, renewable energy, and EV charging—we continue to deliver metering solutions that help utilities modernize their infrastructure while maintaining accuracy, safety, and grid reliability.
From the earliest days of the U.S. power grid to today’s smart energy future, TESCO has been—and continues to be—a name utilities trust.
