Desktop Meter Qualification Board (2199)
Simulate Real-World Conditions and Validate Meter Performance Before Deployment
The TESCO Model 2199 Desktop Meter Qualification Board (MQB) is a fully programmable, single-position meter qualification platform designed to simulate real-world operating conditions, perform meter warm-up, and validate performance prior to deployment.
Unlike general-purpose test stations or accuracy-focused meter test systems, the 2199 is a purpose-built system for meter conditioning, communications validation, and pre-deployment qualification.
Description
What the 2199 Is Used For
The 2199 is used in single-position testing environments where controlled, repeatable validation of individual meters is required.
- Meter warm-up and conditioning under load
- Pre-deployment meter qualification and validation
- AMI and AMR communications testing (including PLC)
- Disconnect and reconnect testing
- Sequence-based automated testing
- Simulation of real-world and abnormal electrical conditions
Why Utilities Use the 2199
Utilities rely on the 2199 when repeatability, control, and accuracy are critical:
- Simulates real-world field conditions prior to installation
- Executes automated test sequences and extended protocols
- Validates communications without external equipment
- Reduces field failures, truck rolls, and commissioning issues
- Standardizes meter qualification workflows across teams
Where the 2199 Fits
The Model 2199 is part of TESCO’s single-position meter qualification system, designed for meter warm-up, validation, and communications testing prior to deployment.
It differs from other equipment categories:
- Meter Qualification Board (2199): Warm-up, validation, and functional testing
- Meter Test Systems (DTS-2990, MTS-3050, MTS-3200): Accuracy testing and calibration
- Flexible Test Platforms (2100): General-purpose testing and troubleshooting
Key Capabilities
Designed for single-position, high-control testing environments, the 2199 provides advanced capabilities for meter qualification and validation.

- Current: 0.01A to 50A RMS
Advanced Waveform Simulation
- Non-sinusoidal and harmonically defined waveforms
- Automatic generation of ANSI C12.20-defined waveforms
- Adjustable phase and power factor
Automated Test Sequences
- Predefined and custom test scripts
- Configurable warm-up periods prior to testing
- Repeatable and standardized validation processes
Integrated Communications and Functional Testing
- PLC (Power Line Carrier) testing built-in
- Disconnect and reconnect testing standard
- No external equipment required for PLC communications testing
Zero Insertion Force Socket
- Electrically operated socket for safe meter handling
- Supports a wide range of meter forms
Software Integration and Connectivity
