We are seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Assembly Technician to build, test, install, repair, and modify electrical/electronic production and custom test equipment. The ideal candidate should be able to, with minimal supervision, read blueprints, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings.  The candidate should be able work independently and use personal judgment and prior experience to resolve problems and to troubleshoot assembly issues to complete the job. We are looking for candidates who can keep up with the demands of the job while paying close attention to detail and quality.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, hourly position, 8 hours a day plus possible overtime.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand simple and complex schematics and wire diagrams.
  • Perform large scale mechanical assembly of the units as well as their sub-assemblies.
  • Perform oil impregnation of cores and coils as well as encasing transformer cores and coils in epoxy.
  • Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the assembling process.
  • Take precise measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.
  • Assemble parts and products based on physical and digital designs with the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Work with a team to assemble products on the production floor.
  • Perform wire stripping, crimping, and soldering.
  • Assist with crating and shipping of any outgoing units at the end of each month.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition.
  • Keep records of production quantities and time.
  • Report on issues, malfunctions, or defective parts.
  • Maintain inventory and place orders for more supplies as needed.
  • Minimize waste by conserving materials and resources.
  • Maintain a clean workspace.
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with your supervisors and teammates.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and other safety gear for daily operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Post secondary diploma required.
  • Able to handle fragile materials.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Follow the company’s standard practices and health & safety regulations.
  • 2-3 years of experience with the assembly and wiring of electrical and electronic equipment is desired.
  • Understanding of basic electro-mechanical assembly practices and practices.
  • Reliable and prompt in attendance.
  • Productive in fast-paced environments.
  • Experienced in operating hand tools and power tools, including drills, saber saws, jig saws, circular saws, and similar devices.
  • Experienced in wire stripping and crimping.
  • Experienced in wire soldering.
  • Able to read schematics, and wire diagrams.
  • Able to handle fragile materials.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Follow the company’s standard practices and health & safety regulations.
